Projects

Most of my new songs are written for specific projects of one kind or another. I'm not sure why it is, but for me to get moving, I need some kind of performance that requires a new song.

Song Challenge

After a long fallow period, I had the idea in 2007 that I would like to force myself to write a lot of new songs in a short time. The first "song challenges" took place between April 6th and May 4th, 2008, and resulted in the creation of 31 new songs by Jan Bentham and myself, working individually.

Songalong

Really a lot of songs were written for this event. Writers Bloc in Ottawa (mostly Tony Turner) hosts this mini-festival of new songs once a year. Its full story is on the Writers Bloc site at www.writersbloc.ca. My history with it is told here.

The Future, Whatever that Means

This is my only CD, released in 2002.

Christmas Goose

Christmas Goose is a multi-year event, initially a Writers Bloc initiative, but then taken over by GOOSE, who ran it as a concert at the beginning of each winter holiday season every year since 2002 at the NAC 4th Stage. Now in its 8th year and being run by Pat Moore. Two CDs, Christmas Goose and the Christmas Platter, were also produced.

Dance Pieces

Pieces I wrote for choreographer Judith Marcuse - 1976-79.

Choral Pieces

Back when I was being a 'serious" composer I wrote several pieces for choir.

Pender Concert

These two are just ways of assembling the songs I wrote and performed when I lived in Vancouver in 1972-3.

Nucleus Concert

Major Street Concert
